"Apple on Doily"

As I sat down this morning and started looking around the easle and house for something 'interesting' to paint, I remembered someone told me recently that an apple seemed like an 'academic' subject to paint, something a student would do.  I think it depends on 'how' you paint it, I like the overcast feel it has.

Mentre che mi sedevo stamattina e ho cominciato a cercare qualcosa interessante da dipingere intorno alla casa ed al cavalletto, mi sono ricordata che qualcuno mi aveva detto recentemente che una mela è un soggetto 'academico' da dipingere, qualcosa che farebbe uno studente.  Penso che dipende 'come' lo dipingi.   Mi piace la sensazione di coperto/nuvoloso che ha questa.

I've discovered that I really love onions, their form, their colour.  I wanted to play with a darker background this morning, it's still not quite exactly what I wanted, but it's getting there.

Ho scoperto che mi piacciono davvero le cipolle, la loro forma, il loro colore.  Stamattina volevo giocare con lo sfondo scuro, non è ancora quello che vorrei, ma arriverà.

Eva came by yesterday with Paolo.  I had lent her my big pot a couple of weeks ago so she could make orange marmelade.  She brought me two jars of it, mmm!


Eva e Paolo sono passati ieri.  Gli avevo prestato la mia pentola grande un paio di settimane fa, così poteva fare la marmelata di arance.  Mi ha portato due barattoli, mmm!

I'm looking for simple shapes and colours, round and warm.  I'll try to pick up some flowers for next week.

Sto cercando delle forme e colori semplici, tondi e caldi.  Cercherò di prendere dei fiori per la prossima settimana.
