Every  morning I wake up at 6, have a caffelatte or tea while I read my emails & then I sit down at the easle to paint.

Ogni mattina, mi alzo alle 6 e prendo un caffelatte o thè mentre leggo gli email, poi mi siedo al cavalletto per dipingere.

There's this little garden patch along Porchiano's walls.  Nobody seems to cultivate it, infact the grass is as gigh as my elbows.  There are two rose bushes that are absolutely beautiful and full of flowers.  I asked Clara, who lives next to it if I could cut some to paint, "Sure, it's so-and-so's but he's never here".

C'è un fazzoletto di giardino intorno alle mura di Porchiano.  Sembra che nessuno lo coltiva, infatti l'erba è alta quanto il mio gomito.  Ci sono due arbusti di rose che sono veramente belle, piene di fiori.  Ho chiesto a Clara che vive lì accanto se potevo prenderne qualcuna per dipingere, "Ma si, è di tizio ma lui non ci sta mai".

I've been eyeing these roses for a few days now, but with all the rainy weather and all, I just haven't been able to cut some.  The sun came out today and voilà, here they are.

Tenevo sottocchio queste rose da un po di giorni ma con tutta sta pioggia non ero riuscita a prenderle.  Oggi il sole è uscito finalmente, eccole qui!

It's so cold outside this morning, hardly seems like late May.  I picked these yesterday afternoon walking around Porchiano.  It's a miracle they're blooming!

Fa così freddo stamattina, quasi non sembra essere Maggio.  Ho raccolto questi ieri pomeriggio camminando intorno a Porchiano.  E' un miracolo che stanno fiorendo!

These roses really last a long time, I've had them for days and days.  I'm happy that I'm able to paint these.  A few months ago I felt a sort of repulsion in painting flowers and infact whenever I tried to paint one, it ended up looking like a pancake!

Queste rose durano veramente tanto, gli ho da giorni.  Sono contenta che riesco a dipingerle.  Un paio di mesi fa sentivo una sorta di repulsione nel dipingerle infatti quando cercavo di farle alla fine sembravano dei pancakes!

The cloudy days continue outside.  It's a nice light to paint to.  
I can't wait for the real Spring to arrive.

Le giornate nuvolose continuano fuori.  C'è una buona luce per dipingere.  Non vedo l'ora che arrivi la vera Primavera.

I'm really liking these deep red roses.  They kinda look like velvet.

 Mi stanno piacendo queste rose rosso profondo.  Sembrano fatte di velluto.

I cut these roses from Alberto, my neighbor's garden here in Porchiano.  He wasn't looking and I don't think he minds either.

Ho preso queste rose dal giardino di mio vicino, Alberto qui a Porchiano.  Non stava guardando e non credo che gli dispiace.

Looked like the sky was going to fall this morning, dark clouds full of rain.  Luckily the wind turned so Gemma didn't get wet on her way to catch the bus this morning for school.  Perfect light to paint in.

Sembrava che stava per fare un acquazzone stamattina, nuvoloni scuri pieni d'acqua.  Fortunatamente il vento spostò le nuvole e così Gemma non si è bagnata andando giù a prendere l'autobus per scuola.  C'era una luce perfetta per dipingere.

I spent the weekend in Penna in Teverina at "Penna in Fiore" a Spring flower and garden market.  It was lovely, the sun came through, I met lots of interesting people and had alot of fun.

Ho trascorso il weekend a Penna in Teverina a "Penna in Fiore", un mercato di fiori e giardinaggio.  E' stato molto bello, il sole è uscito da dietro le nuvole, ho conosciuto tante persone interessanti e mi sono veramente divertita.

I came home really late last night but as usual woke up at 7am.  My guests were sleeping downstairs and I painted this as they slept until 11am.  

Sono tornata veramente tardi ieri sera ma come sempre mi sono svegliata prestissimo, verso le 7.  I miei ospiti stavano dormendo nella stanza accanto mentre dipingevo questo.

Today is May 1st, the international workers day, a holiday here in Italy.  I thought of painting something red, but all of the tomatoes were used in last night's dinner.  It's been a while since I had painted some garlic, so here they are!

Oggi è il primo maggio, festa.  Avevo pensato di dipingere qualcosa di rosso ma tutti i pomodori sono stati mangiati ieri sera a cena.  Era tanto tempo che non avevo dipinto dell'aglio, eccolo qui!
