A friend of mine, Jacopo Arcangeli, had given me some of his family's apples. This one was small and flat on one side. Kind of strange to paint, kind of looked deflated.

Un amico, Jacopo Arcangeli, mi aveva dato delle mele della sua familia. Questa era piccola e piatta su un lato. Era strano dipingerlo perchè sembrava sgonfiata.

The autumn light is lower than the summer light and nowadays I find myself painting around midday. I was in such a rush this afternoon that I've just now managed to post this little guy.

La luce autunnale è più bassa con rispetto a quella estiva e in questi giorni, mi trovo a dipingere intorno a mezzogiorno. Ero di corsa questo pomeriggio e soltanto adesso riesco a pubblicare questo piccolino.

This morning I thought I wanted to paint some flowers. But as soon as I opened the window, the wind blew everything down. I settled for this little red onion.

Questa mattina pensavo di voler dipingere dei fiori ma appena ho aperto la finestra, il vento ha buttato giù tutto. Mi sono accontentata di questa piccola cipolla rossa.

The sun came out slowly this morning and I could barely see this pomegranate at first. It revealed itself a little bit at a time.

Il sole è uscito stamattina lentamente e potevo appena vedere questo melograno. Si rivelò un pò alla volta.

This plum has been sitting around my easel for weeks. I don't know why it hasn't decomposed. The older it gets the darker it is. I love the contrast between it and the lemon.

Questa prugna sta intorno al mio cavalletto da settimane. Non so perchè non si decompone. Più invecchia, più diventa scrura. Amo il contrasto che c'è fra questa ed il limone.

My studio is full of pomegranates! I also had an old plum sitting near my easle this morning and I liked the color combination.

Il mio studio è pieno di melograni! Avevo una vecchia prugna vicino al cavalletto sta mattina e mi piaceva la combinazione di colori.

A friend of mine, Jacopo, showed up the other day with a bag full of his family's apples and pomegranates. They came in all shapes and sizes, wish you could taste them!

L'altro giorno un amico, Jacopo, è venuto a casa con una borsa piena di mele e melograni dalla sua familia. Erano tutti diversi in forma e colore, peccato non li potete asaggiare!

I really like painting this fruit, it's cadmium red and ochre yellow.

This was not an easy fruit to paint with all those little seeds. I think I prefer to do the closed fruit instead.

Non era affatto facile dipingere questa frutta con tutti quei semi. Preferisco farla in versione 'chiusa'.

It's pomegranate season. Lots of people have asked me to paint a few, so here's the first. A friend of mine gave me a bag-full yesterday. This one's small and cute.

E' la stagione dei melograni. Molte persone mi hanno chiesto di dipingerne qualcuno, ed ecco il primo. Ieri, una amica mi ha dato una borsa piena, questo è piccolo e carino.

I really like these Giuliana's little apples. They've got a particular color that the other 'industrial' apples don't have.

Mi piacciono le mele di Giuliana. Hanno un colore particolare che le mele 'industriali' non hanno.

This morning there was absolutely no sun. It was torrentiously raining and the natural light was practically nil. After lunch I saw this lemon sitting in the clutter around my easl, glowing on its own.

Questa mattina non c'era niente di sole. Fuori stava piovendo molto forte e la luce naturale era inesistente. Dopo pranzo ho visto questo limone seduto fra il disordine intorno al cavalletto, brillava da solo.

Yesterday afternoon I went to Giuliana's and Gabriele's to pick up some fresh eggs. Giuliana was cutting and cleaning these little red apples from her vegetable patch in Palliccio. She saw that I liked them and opened a second cantina so I could help myself to these.

Ieri pomeriggio sono passata da Giuliana e Gabriele per prendere delle uova fresche. Giuliana stava tagliando e pulendo queste piccole mele rosse del suo orto giù a Palliccio. Ha visto che mi piacevano, così mi ha aperto la seconda cantina e ne ho preso queste due.

As I was walking the dog this morning, I spotted this Pink Oleandre in front of my neighbor's house. I liked its' simplicity, especially the leaves.

Mentre che portavo fuori il cane stamattina, ho visto questo Oleandro Rosa davanti alla casa dei miei vicini. Mi piaceva la sua semplicità, specialmente le foglie.

Many people have asked me to paint flowers in the last few months. Sure, why not? I've been spotting them around where I live and saw these Pervinka on my doorstep. I thought they could do the job. The little blue vase is one of those collectable miniatures that old ladies like to dust off on their furniture.

Nei mesi scorsi, molte persone mi avevano chiesto di dipingere dei fiori. Perchè no? Ho visto diversi intorno a dove abito ma poi mi hanno chiamato l'attenzione queste Pervinka sui gradini di casa. Mi sembrano giusti. Il vase piccolo è uno di quelle miniature da collezione che tutte le vecchiette amano spolverare come sopramobile.

I've changed perspective on the last few paintings that I've painted. The objects are just below eye level. These grapes were sitting comfortabley on a napkin at the base of my easel.

Ho cambiato la prospettiva degli ultimi dipinti. Gli oggetti stanno appena sotto il livello dei miei occhi. Queste uve stavano seduti commodamente su un tovagliolo alla base del cavalletto.

I think that these are two of the last plums of the season, haven't tried them yet. I think they're from Sicily.

I painted this apple yesterday late afternoon. I usually don't paint 2 paintings a day but I had time and was in the mood. There's a hint of a plastic cup in the right corner, I like that.

Ho dipinto questa mela ieri pomeriggio tardi. Normalmente non dipingo 2 quadri al giorno ma ieri avevo tempo ed ero in vena. C'e un accenno di un bicchiere di plastica nel angolo in alto a destra, mi piace.

My friend Fabiola Faidiga had bought "Mini Aubergine" and "Lemon" and wanted a "Tomato" to go along with it. Well, here it is: one of the first autumn tomatos. Looks pretty nice but I don't know what it tastes like.

La mia amica Fabiola Faidiga aveva comprato "Mini Aubergine" e "Lemon" e voleva un "Tomato" per fare il tris. Eccolo qui: uno dei primi pomodori autunnali. Ha un bel aspetto ma non so che sapore ha.

This morning the autumn sun came through the window and hit this lemon, it was glowing. It looked at me as if to say "well, what are you waiting for?"

Questa mattina il sole d'autunno è entrato dalla finestra e ha illuminato questo limone, splendeva. Mi guardava come per dire "beh, cosa aspetti?"

Finally, I'm back after having searched high and low for canvas boards in the entire province. I had ordered them more than a month ago from a local art store however they simply didn't arrive. Thank goodness for internet and Amicucci.
A friend of mine, Marianne, brought over some pumkins last night from our vegetable patch. This little one was just perfect for this morning.

Finalmente sono tornata dopo aver cercato in largo e lungo in tutta la provincia i cartoni telati. Gli avevo ordinati dal negozio di belli arti più di un mese fa ma non sono arrivati. Meno male che c'è internet e Amicucci.
Ieri sera, la mia amica Marianne mi ha portato delle zucche del nostro orticello. Questa era semplicmente perfetta stamattina.
